Dora-Sitkum RFPD mission statement

The mission of the Dora-Sitkum Rural Fire Protection District is to preserve and enhance the quality of life for the district's citizens and visitors.

Fire practices are held the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 7 p.m. New volunteers are always welcome. For more information, contact Chief Doug Backman or come to the fire hall in Dora on a fire practice night.

Equipment: We have three fire trucks and one quick response vehicle.

ISO: Our ISO rating is a 9.

We respond to structural fires, wildland fires, motor vehicle accidents, and other emergency situations.

Medical response: Chief Doug Backman is an EMT-B. He responds to medical calls with the Myrtle Point Ambulance.

Dora-Sitkum RFPD has mutual aid relationships with other emergency responders, including the Fairview RFPD, Myrtle Point Fire Department, Myrtle Point RFPD, and Coos Forest Protective Association.

Helicopter landing sites have been identified in Sitkum and Dora.

2005 RFA Grant: We received a grant of $17,184 from the Oregon Department of Forestry for water tanks, fold-a-tank, hoses, adapters, radios, pagers, and other equipment items.

2005 AFG Grant: We received a grant of $12,426 from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters grant program for structural turnouts.

Meetings of the Board of Directors are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are held in the cafeteria of the fire hall in Dora. The public is always welcome.
